    Preparation <\/b><\/h3>\n

    Before applying any Osmo product, proper sanding is essential.<\/b><\/p>\n

    The wood surface must be clean and dry (maximum 20% moisture content). <\/span><\/p>\n

    Completely remove old varnishes. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Always wear a dust mask when sanding. <\/span><\/p>\n

    How to apply<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Shake Osmo TopOil well before use.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Using a lint-free cloth, such as Osmo Easy Pads, rub TopOil into the wood surface in a circular or “8” motion.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Allow the oils to penetrate for about 15 minutes.<\/b><\/li>\n
    3. Then brush in the direction of the grain with a brush or cloth to distribute the remaining product and remove excess. There should be no visible film or buildup on the surface. (If so, too much product was applied. Use a clean brush or a new lint-free cloth to remove the excess).<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Drying time: approximately 8 to 10 hours (in normal climatic conditions, 23 \u00b0C \/ 50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures and\/or higher humidity can influence drying time. <\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Ensure the room is well ventilated.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Second coat:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Apply a second thin coat of TopOil evenly, rubbing it into the wood with a circular or “8” motion, as before.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Wait 15 minutes to allow the product to penetrate, then rub and remove excess.<\/b><\/li>\n
      3. Let dry for 8 to 10 hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Pro Tips<\/span><\/h2>\n

        1. Choosing the right grit<\/b><\/h3>\n

        For sanding furniture, we recommend using 150 to 180 grit by hand<\/strong>, versus 100-120 with a 5″ orbital sander<\/strong>. Sanding too coarsely leaves visible scratches, while too fine a grit (beyond 220) reduces the absorption capacity of the hardwax-oil, which decreases durability and stain resistance<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n

        2. Sand in the direction of the grain<\/b><\/h3>\n

        Always sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid cross-grain scratches that cannot be hidden later.<\/span><\/p>\n

        3. Smooth progression<\/b><\/h3>\n

        For a smoother finish, you can go up to 220 grit (by hand) especially for furniture, but stop at this stage<\/strong>. Avoid going beyond this to preserve the wood’s ability to absorb the finish.<\/span><\/p>\n

        4. Remove all dust<\/b><\/h3>\n

        After sanding, thoroughly clean the surface using a tack cloth, microfiber cloth, or a vacuum with a brush attachment. Any residual dust will impair the adhesion of the hardwax-oil and prevent penetration, reducing durability and scratch resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

        5. <\/b>Apply in thin coats<\/b><\/h3>\n

        When applying an Osmo product, apply <\/span>very thin coats<\/b>. Just enough to work the surface with circular or figure-eight motions using a pad or brush.<\/span><\/p>\n

        6. Optional sanding between coats<\/b><\/h3>\n
