Wallpaper Primer – Prep Coat
Prep-Coat for wallpaper is a water-based acrylic primer used by all professional wallpaper installers. This special base coat prepares and conditions the wall before wallpaper is applied. This primer coat completely eliminates the need to sand a smooth, glossy surface or to prime a new plaster wall. Prep-Coat for wallpaper creates a Velcro-like surface that ensures strong adhesion, prevents seams from opening, and helps eliminate air bubbles that form under the paper. This wallpaper prep primer is ideal for both pre-pasted wallpaper and unpasted wallpaper. Ultimately, it makes future wallpaper removal easier by preventing the paste from bonding with porous surfaces.
Prep-Coat applies like paint, with a 10 mm roller, and dries to the touch in 20 minutes and can be covered with wallpaper the same day. Its water-based formula has almost no odor, making it pleasant to use and easy to clean up with water and soap.
Application Instructions:
Remove peeling paint, rust, plaster, etc. Clean the surface with an appropriate detergent (a mixture of TSP or TSP substitute and hot water). Remove mildew with bleach. Stir contents until uniform consistency, all the way to the bottom of the container. Do not apply below 10°C (50°F). Apply Prep-Coat by brush, roller, or sprayer. Wait 2 hours before applying wallpaper. In humid conditions or at low temperatures, additional drying time is required. Clean up with water and soap.
