Colobar is a paint and decoration business founded in 1959, located in Laval, near Montreal, Quebec. Our business philosophy is based on integrity, professionalism, and the quality of our service and products. We want your shopping experience through our online store to be user-friendly and pleasant, just as if you were physically present at our Laval store. We cordially invite you to contact us with any questions. Please note that beyond this online store, a “flesh and blood” team of dedicated individuals is ready to assist you.

By accessing the www.colobar.ca online store and making purchases, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to our online sales policies.

Territory Served:

To date, the territory we serve is limited to Canada.

However, since we are inclusive by nature, we will be happy to sell you products even if you reside outside the served territory, provided that you handle the selection and payment of your carrier. In technical terms: FOB Colobar, Laval! In this case, please contact us.

Payment Method:

Products ordered on the www.colobar.ca online store must be paid for through the PAYPAL payment platform. Three options are available to you:

Merchandise Availability / Out of Stock:

We strive to maintain an impressive inventory of merchandise to fulfill all orders. However, in rare cases some items may be out of stock. If that happens, you will be notified by email of the situation, estimated additional delays, and/or alternative solutions. We will do everything in our power and beyond to fulfill your order as quickly as possible.

Delivery

Shipping Fees:

Shipping fees for all goods sold through the www.colobar.ca online store are $15.00 + 10% of the invoice amount before taxes. For purchases over $149, shipping is free.

 

Shipping service is available across Canada only.

Free Shipping

Standard Parcel shipping is free for online orders on colobar.ca of $149 or more before taxes. Free shipping includes ground shipping only.

Exclusions

1 The free delivery offer excludes delivery by Canada Post’s Omnibus service to very remote areas. 2 Some large or bulky products cannot be sent by parcel. These products are clearly indicated on the product page with the mention: “In-store pickup & delivery by our Truck (if available) only.”

Shipping Methods:

We reserve the right to choose the carrier based on logistical constraints to find the most efficient and safest solution for your goods. The various carriers we use regularly include:

  • Our truck, for local deliveries (Greater Montreal area)
  • Canada Post, for smaller shipments
  • GLS CANADA (formerly Dicom Express), for the majority of paint shipments
  • FEDEX, for shipments to the Prairies and British Columbia
  • On pallets, for large orders

This list is neither exhaustive nor restrictive, as we have agreements with several freight transport companies.

Order Tracking:

We will send you an email confirming the shipment of your order with the carrier’s name and the tracking number so you can see the progress of your package.

Signature upon Receipt:

Most of our shipments contain valuable items; therefore, our carrier is required to obtain a signature upon receipt. If you anticipate being unable to sign for your package, you can have the item sent to an address where a trusted person can receive it for you. Once your order has been shipped, we are no longer able to change the shipping address.

Handling and Delivery Times:

Our intention is to send your order as soon as possible. However, we reserve a reasonable period of 1 to 3 business days for the handling of your order. Regarding delivery, average times are usually 1 to 5 business days in Quebec, depending on the chosen shipping method. In 90% of cases, the orders we ship are delivered within an average of 2 to 5 business days from the moment the order was submitted to the online store.

 

Procedure upon Receipt of Your Order:

The carrier is responsible for delivering your order in full and undamaged.

You are responsible for counting the number of boxes received and visually inspecting your packages BEFORE signing the carrier’s delivery slip. If the merchandise appears to have been damaged in transit, please take the time to open your packages BEFORE signing. Indeed, when you sign for receipt, you acknowledge that the merchandise is in good condition. If you sign without checking the condition of the package and it turns out to be damaged, it will be difficult to prove that you did not damage it, and the carrier will no longer accept responsibility.

If the merchandise was damaged in transit:

  1. DO NOT SIGN the delivery slip and refuse the package;
  2. Take a photo of the damaged package;
  3. Send us the photo by email to info@colobar.ca with your contact information and the invoice number within a maximum of 3 days following receipt of the order.

We will then make arrangements with the carrier to resend the ordered products to you (in better condition).

If the order is incomplete:

  1. YOU MAY SIGN the delivery slip and ACCEPT the package(s);
  2. Take photos of the package(s) received, showing the shipping labels on the boxes and ideally the contents of each so we can quickly identify what is missing;
  3. Send us the photos by email to info@colobar.ca with your contact information and the invoice number within a maximum of 3 days following receipt of the order.

We will then contact the carrier to see what is happening with the missing package(s) and ask them to resolve the situation. If they are unable to track the package within a reasonable timeframe, we will take action to ship what is missing.

Returns, Exchanges, and Refunds

HASSLE-FREE RETURNS: KEEP YOUR INVOICE

If you have merchandise to return and it is not among the exceptions*, please return it to us within 30 days of purchase, in its initial state and original packaging, accompanied by the original invoice to obtain an exchange or refund.

Returnable Products

Non-customized (non-tinted) products and accessories are returnable for exchange or refund within 30 days of the purchase date.

Non-Returnable Products

Please note that custom-colored and/or tinted paint or stain containers (custom colors), as well as opened or partially used products, are not returnable, exchangeable, or refundable.

Special order products (ordered specifically for a customer or in special quantities for a customer) are not returnable, exchangeable, or refundable.

In-Store Returns

By returning products directly to the store, you avoid return shipping fees. Products eligible for returns, exchanges, and refunds must be returned to us within 30 days of the purchase date.

Products must be returned at Colobar, 357 Boulevard des Laurentides, Laval, QC H7G 2T9, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Merchandise will be refunded once it arrives at Colobar in perfect condition.

Returns by Shipping

Shipping costs for returns or exchanges are the responsibility of the customer. Products eligible for returns, exchanges, and refunds must be returned to us within 30 days of the purchase date.

Products must be returned at Colobar, 357 Boulevard des Laurentides, Laval, QC H7G 2T9, Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

If you send the merchandise via a transport company, pack the goods carefully and request insurance for the protection of the merchandise. Indeed, if the merchandise never reaches Colobar or arrives damaged, we will not be able to refund you.

Merchandise will be refunded once it arrives at Colobar in perfect condition.

Restocking Fees

Some products are subject to a return fee.

Product categories subject to a return fee:

  • Rugs: returnable within 30 days of purchase, refundable minus a 50% return fee.
  • Ceramic Tile: returnable within 30 days of purchase, refundable minus a 50% return fee. Unopened boxes only. The return is made directly to the supplier once we have provided you with an authorization number.
  • Special Order Wallpaper: returnable within 30 days of receipt of the merchandise at Colobar, refundable minus a 30% return fee. See exceptions* (Casadeco, Metro, Maxwell)

* Exceptions

  • Wallpapers from the following suppliers are not returnable and cannot be exchanged or refunded: Casadeco, Metro, and Maxwell.
  • Special Order Decorative Accessories (Renwil, Attitude Import): No returns.
  • Ceramic Installation Products (grout, glue, adhesive, etc.): No returns.
  • Decorative Stone and Brick: No returns
  • Bedding, Linens, Sheets, and Duvets: No returns
  • Manufactured, Cut, Tailored, Modified, or Customized Merchandise: non-returnable. (e.g., custom blinds, fabric cut to length, custom bedding (duvet covers, bed skirts, custom sheets, etc.), custom curtains, Muraluxe panels, wood panels/slats, etc.)
  • Gift cards, gift certificates, or store credits cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.

Non-Refundable Fees:

Initial shipping fees will not be refunded if a customer changes their mind and returns their order.

Shipping fees will be covered by Colobar only if there is an error on our part or if a product proves to be defective.

 

Color Accuracy:

Since colors can rarely be rendered accurately on a computer screen, we encourage you to perform a test on a small surface to ensure the color meets your expectations. If the color does not match what you desire, we will be happy to adjust it as long as you can show us precisely the color of your choice. It is indeed less expensive to send back your containers for modification than to have to restart the work!

In some cases of stains and wood finishing oils, the resulting shades may vary depending on the type of wood—even from one batch to another of the same species. The final color is always influenced by the wood grain, texture, porosity, as well as the wood preparation and stain application method. Perform a test beforehand on a small surface and allow it to dry to ensure the accuracy of the desired color. Consequently, Colobar disclaims all responsibility if the color, once applied, is not suitable.

Several products are available in small formats (50 ml sample types). We strongly recommend ordering one to validate the color before proceeding with the full order.

Colobar’s Privileges:

When products are advertised on its www.colobar.ca site and on the online store, Colobar cannot guarantee that they will be available at the time of purchase or in the future.

Colobar reserves the privilege to:

  • Update the data on its www.colobar.ca site and its online store at any time, without notice and without liability to you or any other person;
  • Update or modify the products and services available online, prices and fees, and various promotions at any time, without notice and without liability to you or any other person;
  • Refuse, modify, or cancel any order, whether already accepted or not, for any reason Colobar deems valid;
  • Set a maximum quantity of products and services intended for sale.
  • The returns and refunds policy may be modified at any time without notice. Notwithstanding this policy, Colobar reserves the right to limit or refuse the return of merchandise for any reason whatsoever.

Liability:

Colobar’s liability is limited to the amount paid for the purchase of products through the www.colobar.ca online store and to the replacement of products. Labor costs can in no case be claimed or charged to Colobar’s account.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, we acknowledge that the customer benefits from all rights provided by any applicable law or regulation in Quebec. It is understood that the customer must also fulfill the obligations provided by the same laws and regulations. The relationship between the parties is governed by the laws of the province of Quebec. Any dispute relating to sales and credits or any breach of the conditions of sale applicable to the purchase of products through Colobar’s online store will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of the province of Quebec, district of Laval.
