Description:
Océanic varnish is ideal for those looking to improve their home’s air quality and achieve aesthetically pleasing varnished surfaces without compromising floor durability.
This varnish can be applied to new and old surfaces with proper preparation.
Océanic: Environmental Innovation
Océanic Air Protect floor varnish features impressive environmental technology: its formula includes a VOC (formaldehyde) absorbing agent called INNOVATION Air Protect. Thanks to its Air Protect property, it can block up to 80% of VOC emissions from the floor and eliminate up to 40% of VOCs present in the ambient air. It was developed in the laboratories of Blanchon, a leading French manufacturer of varnishes and wood finishing products. The Blanchon Group is committed to manufacturing and marketing high-quality products that respect people and the environment.
No Compromise on Performance
A water-based single-component polyurethane, Blanchon’s Océanic Air Protect floor varnish provides high resistance against abrasion and stains.
A Natural and Deep Appearance
Océanic Air Protect preserves the wood’s natural color and enhances its grain. Indeed, unlike some milky water-based varnishes that produce a whitish film on certain woods, it enhances the wood grain with a beautiful depth effect. It can be applied to all types of wood (soft, hardwood, exotic, light, or dark).

How to apply
Learn how to apply Blanchon Oceanic varnish
Preparation
The wood must be clean and free of all traces of old varnish, oil, wax, or other finishes. Sand the wood finishing with 120-grit paper and carefully remove dust. Fill cracks using filler binder mixed with finishing sanding dust or with Blanchon wood filler. Stain as needed following the stain manufacturer's instructions. For stripped wood, thoroughly clean the surface ensuring all residue has been removed. Clean the surface with a mild citrus thinner and sand with 120-grit paper. Shake the container vigorously and let rest 20 minutes before using. Acclimate the product to room temperature above 15°C.
How to apply
Apply the varnish in the direction of the wood grain, with a synthetic bristle brush, foam brush, applicator, roller (10 mm), or spray gun. Between coats, allow to dry 2 hours and sand with 180-grit paper.
Compatibility
Océanic Air Protect applies to bare wood, wood stained with water-based "Évo-Nature" stain, vegetable oil-based Évo-Teinture stain, or most non-sealing water-based, alcohol-based, or oil-based stains. If you want to apply it over walnut stain, seal the surface with a shellac-based primer (50 g of shellac per 500 ml of denatured alcohol)
Maintenance
Dust with a vacuum equipped with non-rotating natural fiber bristle brushes. Wash using a soft mop dampened with Blanchon's Lagoon ready-to-use gentle universal cleaner for varnished and oiled floors or a black soap solution.
