About the Sansin Resolution 1 and 2 Wood Protection System

Resolution is a two-step wood finishing system that is harder, more beautiful, and more durable than varnish. Designed for furniture, doors, and marine applications where UV resistance and moisture protection are essential. Resolution offers brilliant clarity combined with chemical, scratch, and water resistance. Additionally, you can count on Resolution for low VOC content and an easy-to-apply gloss or satin finish. Choose from 10 natural wood tones to enhance the character and color of your wood.

While Resolution 1 is the primer step of the Resolution system, it can be used alone indoors as a protective wood coating. Resolution 1 is a high-solids finish that penetrates the wood grain to provide deep UV and moisture protection. The Resolution 1 resin is oil-based, providing excellent penetration. For exterior projects, Resolution 2 must be applied as a topcoat over Resolution 1.

Preparation and Application

PREPARATION IS KEY TO THE SUCCESS OF YOUR PROJECT.

Inspect wood surfaces for defects and perform necessary repairs.

Sand the wood surface with an appropriate abrasive to achieve a clean, uniform surface; finish sanding with 100-120 grit sandpaper.

Round off sharp corners and edges to improve abrasion resistance.

Follow with an appropriate cleaning method using a vacuum or compressed air. Wash resinous wood with acetone, scrub vigorously, and wipe clean with a paper towel.

Note: Use specific equipment for each Resolution formula to avoid cross-contamination.

Generously apply Resolution 1 to the wood surface using a professional-grade universal brush. Allow the product to penetrate deeply and remove excess with a clean cloth.

Resolution 1 can be thinned with mineral spirits if applied by spray.

Allow to dry for 2 to 4 hours. If a deeper tone is desired, apply a second thin coat of Resolution 1 and remove excess with a clean cloth.

Allow to dry for 16 hours.

Differences between Resolution 1 and Resolution 2

Resolution 1 is the first step of the Resolution 1 and 2 system.

Resolution 1 is a high-solids, oil-based product that deeply penetrates and fills the wood, providing UV and moisture protection.

Resolution 2 is the second step of the Resolution 1 and 2 system.

Resolution 2 is a clear, low VOC product available in gloss or satin formulas.

NEVER mix Resolution 1 and Resolution 2 products together or with other formulas.

Planning a project with the Resolution 1 and 2 system

1 coat: Resolution 1 – Colored

2-3 coats: Resolution 2 – Gloss

Final coat: Resolution 2 – Satin (optional)

Maintenance coat: Resolution 2 – Gloss or Satin

Colors

Available in various natural wood tones or clear for interior wood. For teak, choose Resolution 1 – Teak Yellow or Teak Red as the first coat for exterior application.
