About the Sansin Resolution 1 and 2 Wood Protection System

Resolution is a two-step wood finishing system that is harder, more beautiful, and more durable than varnish. Designed for furniture, doors, and marine applications where UV resistance and moisture protection are essential. Resolution offers brilliant clarity combined with chemical, scratch, and water resistance. Additionally, you can count on Resolution for low VOC content and an easy-to-apply gloss or satin finish.

First, apply Resolution 1 in your chosen color.

Resolution 2 is the second step of the finishing system. It is the clear gloss or satin protection that will ensure maximum richness, depth, and durability over the years.

Resolution 2 is harder, more beautiful, and more durable than varnish, offering brilliant depth and low-maintenance performance for years. Resolution 2 is suitable for both marine and nautical applications as well as outdoor furniture.

Application Tips

First, refer to Resolution 1 preparation and application tips

After applying the last coat of Resolution 1, allow to dry for 16 hours

Apply a first coat of gloss Resolution II and allow to dry for 16 hours before sanding with 220-320 grit sandpaper to smooth the wood surface.

Apply two additional coats of gloss Resolution II, spacing applications 1 to 3 hours apart, then allow to dry overnight.

Sand again with 220-320 grit sandpaper and remove all dust or dirt with a damp, lint-free cloth.

Apply a final coat of gloss or satin Resolution II to achieve the desired finish.

Apply under ideal temperature conditions of 10-30°C (50-86°F) and relative humidity of approximately 50%.

Do not apply during the hottest part of the day or when exposed to direct sunlight, as drying will be too rapid and may make application difficult.

Do not apply if rain showers are forecast for up to 24 hours following application or if the temperature is near freezing for the same period.

If there is salt or rain contamination, rinse the wood surface with clean water and repeat the sanding step before resuming product application.

Maintenance

Exterior surfaces require maintenance every 12 to 30 months. Exposure, application quality, and color affect product performance. Maintenance is necessary when the wood shows signs of wear or degradation. Regular maintenance provides better color retention, exceptional dimensional stability, and improved water repellency. Periodically clean wood surfaces with clean water.

Use Sansin Multi-Wash to remove dust and residue and rinse with clean water. A coat of Resolution 2 should be applied when the wood shows signs of wear, degradation, or loss of sheen. The time interval between maintenance depends on the quality of preparation and application, as well as the level of exposure. Finish by sanding with 220-320 grit sandpaper, remove dust with a dry or damp lint-free cloth before applying Resolution 2 as directed.

Differences between Resolution 1 and Resolution 2

Resolution 1 is the first step of the Resolution 1 and 2 system.

Resolution 1 is a high-solids, oil-based product that deeply penetrates and fills the wood, providing UV and moisture protection.

Resolution 2 is the second step of the Resolution 1 and 2 system.

Resolution 2 is a clear, low VOC product available in gloss or satin formulas.

NEVER mix Resolution 1 and Resolution 2 products together or with other formulas.
