Wood Conditioner
Circa 1850 wood conditioner primer is specially formulated to penetrate wood fibers, creating an even surface ready for staining. Circa 1850 wood conditioner primer prevents blotching and stains caused by poor wood absorption during staining. Uneven staining is a common issue in softwoods such as pine, cedar, and spruce. Always use Circa 1850 wood conditioner primer before staining end grain.

Application:
Before staining bare wood, try making a mark with your fingernail in a hidden section of the wood piece. If you can make a mark, the wood likely needs conditioner primer to prevent uneven staining. Apply Circa 1850 wood conditioner primer over the entire wood surface, especially the end grain. Allow 5 to 15 minutes of drying time, then remove excess with a clean cloth. Apply the stain within 2 hours.
