It imparts a rich walnut color to the wood. You can adjust the color intensity by varying the amount of pigment in your dilution. Preparation:
Ensure your wood has been degreased with a degreaser (e.g., black soap, TSP). If the surface was previously sanded, it must be thoroughly dusted.
Now, all that remains is to prepare your Brou de noix dilution. The recommended dose by Waxine is 15 g of Brou de noix crystals per 1 liter of water. If you desire a darker color, you may increase the number of grams of crystals you add to your mixture. The maximum number of grams not to exceed to avoid saturation is 150 g/liter.
It is also important not to leave your dilution in the sun.
How to apply:
- For soft and planed woods, dampen the wood with a cloth soaked in lukewarm water.
- Once the wood is dry, lightly sand it by hand with 120-grit sandpaper (sanding is not necessary on raw wood). Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
- Apply the product using a sterilized cotton cloth, a foam brush, or a cotton wick.
- Saturate with the dilution, then apply the product in the direction of the wood grain. Allow it to penetrate for a few seconds, then wipe off the excess with a cotton cloth. The product will reach its curing time after 45 to 60 minutes.
- If you wish to darken the color, re-wet the targeted section generously with your mixture.
- Let it dry for 30 minutes, then sand with #000 steel wool, which is very fine.
