How to apply
How to apply
Preparation:
The surface must be free of peeling paint, dirt, mildew, efflorescence, and any contaminants.
Glossy, oil-painted, or synthetic surfaces must be cleaned, sanded, and primed with an ultra-adherent primer before applying the Lime Wash Base Coat.
New gypsum, plywood, or any other porous material such as cement must first be sealed with a water-based multi-purpose primer-sealer undercoat.
New cement surfaces must have cured for at least 30 days before being primed.
Simply put, Lime Wash Paint or Lime Wash Base Coat should never be applied directly to an unsealed porous surface, a glossy surface, oil paint, or an unprimed synthetic surface.
How to apply
- Apply 2 coats of Lime Wash Base Coat with a brush or 10mm roller and let dry for at least 5 to 8 hours.
- Apply 2 generous coats of Lime Wash Paint with a wide brush in a cross-hatch motion, allowing 8 hours of drying time between each coat.
FIRST COAT
- Apply the first coat of Lime Wash Paint with a brush using cross-hatch or multi-directional strokes.
- Always maintain a wet edge throughout the application.
- Lime Wash Paint will dry to a lighter shade, like plaster, and will show a lap mark if allowed to dry mid-way.
- Let the first coat dry for at least 8 hours.
SECOND COAT
- Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first.
- If you wish to achieve a more uniform pattern, apply a third coat.
Protection
Important: Lime Wash Paint is an absorbent and non-washable product. We are currently testing various clear protectors to determine which one would be perfectly suitable.
