Preparation
New Surface
- Surface must be smooth, clean, and dust-free.
- The substrate must first be primed with a water-based primer as needed before applying the Lime Wash Base Coat.
- To effectively seal porous surfaces such as drywall (new gypsum), cement, and wood, a multi-purpose primer-sealer is required. The Lime Wash base coat does not replace a surface primer.
- Suggestion: Benjamin Moore PRIME ALL
Existing Surface
- Surface must be smooth, clean, and dust-free.
- Recommended cleaner: Passeport Élite Biodegradable Concentrated Degreaser
- Any glossy surface, or those covered with synthetic material or oil-based paint, must be sanded, dusted, and then primed with a high-adhesion primer, allowing it to dry completely.
- Suggestion: Benjamin Moore STIX INSL-X or any other high-performance 100% acrylic primer.
- Walls previously coated with regular water-based paint in a matte or low-sheen finish do not require additional primer before applying Lime Wash Base Coat, but must also be thoroughly cleaned.
How to apply
