Description:
Passeport Elite 100% Solids Industrial Metallic Epoxy is a two-component, solvent-free, and odorless epoxy-based coating. This floor protection system offers a very strong, high-gloss finish resistant to abrasion and chemical agents.
It was designed for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. Since drying and curing occur through catalysis, there are no harmful solvents or odors emitted during installation.
This product is sold in 3-gallon kits, with a 2:1 ratio; 2 gallons of resin and 1 gallon of activator. The 3-gallon format provides savings compared to the 4.5 L format. The Metallic Epoxy kit includes the necessary pigments to achieve a metallic effect.
The 3-gallon 100% solids epoxy kit is therefore ideal for those who need to cover a large area and wish to speed up application while saving on the purchase of the epoxy.
Uses:
Industrial maintenance, commercial areas, light industry, heavy industry, metal industry, warehouses, wastewater treatment plants, technical rooms, chemical processing, dairy plants, electronics, garages, car dealerships, animal shelters, professional kitchens, pharmaceutical industry, pulp and paper mills, swimming pools, bakeries, breweries, operating rooms, kitchens, meat processing laboratories, …
Advantages:
- Contains 100% solids materials (no VOCs), allowing for indoor application without harmful odors
- Dense surface resistant to bacteria and moisture, easy to clean (Finish approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency)
- Excellent adhesive properties, allowing application on various types of substrates
- Can be applied in multiple coats with excellent adhesion
- Economical format for large surfaces
Coverage:
The product covers an area of 150 sq. ft. per 3-gallon kit.
The epoxy must be applied in a thick layer (32 mils) to achieve a successful metallic effect.
Drying time:
- 24 h between coats.
- Once the 2 components are mixed, you have 30 min to apply before the epoxy hardens.
Pro tips:
- Mix only the amount of epoxy you can apply within 30 min. Otherwise, you will lose the excess product since it hardens and becomes unusable.
- Follow the 2:1 mixing ratio precisely. Otherwise, epoxy curing issues may occur (epoxy that cures too fast, epoxy that never cures).
- When mixing the 2 components, scrape the sides and bottom of the container with a spatula. This ensures the entire mix is properly proportioned.
- Do not apply on a floor with a moisture level of 4% or higher. Ambient humidity must be below 85% during application.
- For optimal application, spread the epoxy over the surface with an epoxy squeegee (rubber scraper) and then even out the finish using an 18” lint-free roller for the first coat. To achieve the metallic effect (2nd coat), use a magic trowel.

How to achieve a metallic effect
Preparation
The surface must be clean, dry, and ground (sanded).
- Clean the surface with a degreasing cleaner.
- Allow the floor to dry COMPLETELY (minimum 24 to 48 hours)
- Grind the floor using a diamond-head sander for concrete floors.
- Thoroughly remove dust using a shop vacuum.
Note: No trace of dust should remain before applying the epoxy.
Apply the 1st Coat
A first coat of opaque colored epoxy must be applied to properly seal the floor before creating the metallic effect.
Mixing
- Mix the resin for about 2 min using a paint mixer and an electric drill.
- Add the hardener and mix for about 4 min at low speed (450 rpm).
- Scrape the sides of the container with a spatula halfway through mixing (approx. 2 min).
- Pour the epoxy directly onto the floor.
How to apply
- Spread the epoxy first with a squeegee.
- Use a roller to level the epoxy layer.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours.
Note: The 1st coat of epoxy should be thin, approximately 5 mils thick.
Apply the 2nd coat and create the metallic effect
The metallic effect is created during the 2nd coat of epoxy.
Mixing
- Mix the resin for about 1 min with a paint mixer.
- Add the metallic pigment to the resin. Mix for 2 min.
- Add the hardener and mix for about 4 min at low speed (450 rpm).
- Scrape the sides of the container with a spatula halfway through mixing (approx. 2 min).
- Pour the epoxy directly onto the floor.
How to apply
- Spread the epoxy on the floor using a magic trowel (standing application) or a stainless steel trowel (kneeling application).
- Move in opposite directions to create a marbled effect.
- Continue in this manner until the entire floor is covered.
IMPORTANT: To achieve a smooth metallic look with an effect of depth, it is important to apply a thick layer, maintaining a thickness of 32 mils.
