Description:

Blanchon Marine Varnish is recommended for varnishing woodwork exposed to marine climate and weather. Its water-based polyurethane resins contain a highly effective UV inhibitor. Marine Varnish delivers outstanding results in the harshest weather conditions, on exterior doors and windows, boat decks and superstructures, woodwork, and all other wood projects exposed to moisture. Floor application is possible for light traffic.

Unlike other water-based varnishes, it does not mask the wood grain and produces no whitish effect. It can be applied to all types of wood and has the property of preserving their natural colors. Its milky color during application disappears completely when dry.

Features:

  • Odorless;
  • High resistance to marine climate;
  • Highly resistant to abrasion, impact, and scratches;
  • Clear and durable;
  • Non-yellowing;
  • No drips;
  • Contains a powerful UV inhibitor;

How to apply:

Apply the varnish in the direction of the wood grain with an SRT polyester or poly/nylon brush. Between coats, allow 3 hours drying time and sand with 180-grit paper.

If applying over walnut stain, seal the surface with a shellac-based primer (50 g shellac in 500 ml denatured alcohol).

Number of coats:

  • Exterior: 3 coats or 4 coats on particularly absorbent woods or on projects exposed to severe weather conditions.
  • Interior: apply 2 coats.

Drying time:

  • Touch dry: 1 hour
  • Between coats: after 3 hours and before 48 hours
  • Light traffic: 12 hours
  • Use: 24 hours
  • Complete drying: 48 hours

Compatibility:

Blanchon Marine Varnish can be applied to bare wood, wood stained with our Ligna Tandem-1 oil-based stain, or most non-sealing water-, alcohol-, or oil-based stains.

Maintenance:

Blanchon Marine Varnish can be easily refreshed. Sand with 180-grit sandpaper to dull the surface, remove dust, and apply two coats of Marine Varnish.
