Product description
Ligna Pronto oil is a single-coat product based on natural resins and oils, designed to protect surfaces other than floors, such as furniture, walls, ceilings, doors, woodwork, or any other less-stressed interior wood surfaces. Pronto oil enhances the wood grain. It protects and facilitates maintenance. Pronto is a high-quality, single-coat oil with a high concentration of natural materials. It protects, colors, and seals wood in a single coat. Its natural and colored shades provide a rich appearance and a matte-satin finish. Like all Ligna oils, Pronto does not form a surface film that could peel or flake.
Thanks to its penetrating power, Pronto nourishes the wood and protects it against water, dust, and stains. With Pronto, you can make touch-ups at any time without difficulty.
Ligna products are premium natural oils that enhance the color of wood and are suitable for both residential and commercial projects.
Pronto Oil Coverage
Pronto oil offers excellent coverage. A small amount of oil is sufficient to cover a large area. The amount of oil needed varies depending on the hardness of the wood species used.
- Low-density wood such as white, red, or grey pine, torrefied wood, Douglas fir, larch: 170 to 220 sq ft/liter
- Medium-density wood such as oak, cherry, birch, bamboo…: 220 to 230 sq ft/liter
- High-density wood such as maple, Jatoba, Ipe, Cumaru…: 260 to 300 sq ft/liter
Surface Preparation
The surface must be clean, free of dust, and any wax or varnish residue. Acclimate the product to room temperature before application. The temperature must be above 15 °C.
For hardwood, the surface must be sanded before application. When sanding follow the wood grain with 100 to 120 grit sandpaper. Softer woods, such as pine, absorb more than hardwoods; we recommend using 150 grit paper for sanding softwoods.
Do not dust with a damp cloth, as this would raise the wood grain and result in uneven application. Use a vacuum cleaner and tack cloths to remove dust.
For high-density woods like maple and certain exotic woods, the wood grain must be opened.
Procedure:
Wet the wood with a mop or a damp cloth. When the surface is completely dry (approximately two hours), lightly sand with 220 grit paper to ‘break’ the raised wood fibers, thoroughly dust, and apply the oil.
Pronto Oil Application
Mix the product thoroughly with a stir stick before application.
By Hand:
1- Apply a thin coat using an applicator pad, microfiber applicator, brush, or lamb’s wool applicator.
2 – After a maximum of 15 to 20 minutes, using a bleached cotton cloth, wipe in the direction of the wood grain, rubbing the oil to make it penetrate and remove any excess. Do not let oil dry on the surface.
With an Electric Polisher:
1- Apply a coat of oil using an applicator pad, microfiber applicator, brush, or lamb’s wool applicator.
2- After application, using a rotary polisher equipped with a green pad, buff the surface to ensure the oil penetrates well and the surface is uniform. Do not let oil dry on the surface.
3- Optional: To polish the surface, after 60 minutes, buff with a polisher equipped with a white pad.
Only one coat is necessary, but a second coat can be applied if you wish to increase the color intensity by approximately 20% or the finish’s sheen.
For application on more heavily used surfaces (doors, windows, or others), add a second coat to increase sheen and protection. Natural colored oil can be used to avoid changing the tint with the second coat.
