Cabinet Coat enamel is the ideal finish for repainting various surfaces in kitchens and bathrooms, particularly cabinets, shelves, furniture, and trim. This furniture paint provides an ultra-smooth, professional-quality finish with lasting beauty.

Its exceptional adhesion properties allow it to paint surfaces “to which nothing adheres,” even polyurethane or varnishes. Cabinet Coat has excellent flow and leveling characteristics, which allows for a smooth finish comparable to that obtained with a paint sprayer. Its urethane acrylic resin gives this furniture paint superior stain resistance and an extremely durable satin finish that will maintain its “freshly painted” look for years.

Recommended uses:

Cabinets, metal, wood (new, previously painted or varnished), furniture, trim, and door frames. Do not use as a whole-house wall paint.

Surface preparation:

General Guidelines:
Surfaces must be clean, dry, in good condition, and free of dirt, grease, oil, wax, mildew, or any other surface contaminant. Remove dirt and chalking by scrubbing with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Remove surface wax with a commercial stripper. Grease and oil residues must be removed with an oil and grease emulsifier. Remove flaking, cracked, or non-adhering coating from previously painted surfaces by scraping, sanding, or cleaning the surface with a manual wire brush, or with a mechanical tool such as a sander, grinder, etc. Remove all traces of rust from metal surfaces. Repair or replace heavily damaged or detached surfaces. Lightly sand all rough paint edges on the adjacent surface. All glossy surfaces must be lightly sanded to effectively dull the existing sheen and create a more suitable surface for painting.

NOTE:
Always clean before sanding to prevent contaminants from penetrating the substrate or previous coats!

Glossy Surfaces:
Even though Cabinet Coat is formulated to be applied without sanding on difficult-to-coat surfaces, it is recommended to adequately prepare the substrate to promote adhesion. Properly dull surfaces such as melamine laminate, Formica®, ceramic tiles, and glossy painted surfaces. If this cannot be done, consider applying STIX ultra-adherent primer.

Previously Painted Surfaces:
Priming is not necessary if the surface is in good condition. Clean or sand, as indicated above. Touch up bare spots with a first coat of Cabinet Coat as a primer.

Ferrous Metals:
Prime bare spots with a metal primer.

How to apply:

Cabinet Coat applies easily with a premium brush or roller. If spraying is preferred, the recommended method is with a high-volume, low-pressure sprayer. Stir the product well before use. It is important to maintain a wet edge, regardless of the application method chosen, by brushing or rolling back into the freshly painted surface. Due to its fast drying time, it is important not to overwork Cabinet Coat furniture paint to avoid brush marks or roller marks.

Brush:
Premium synthetic bristles only.

Roller:
Premium short nap (less than 10 mm thick).

Sprayer:
Dilute with a maximum of 236.6 mL of clean water per 3.79 L container. With a high-volume, low-pressure sprayer, use an air cap and a #12 needle. The spray mode of an airless or conventional sprayer can introduce air into the product and lead to air bubbles in the coating. For this reason, dilute with a maximum of 236.6 mL of clean water per 3.79 L container, reduce pump pressure to the maximum, and use a 0.019 to 0.021 tip. For best results, it is preferable to apply several thin coats instead of one thick coat.

Cleaning:

Clean hands, brushes, rollers, and all other equipment with warm soapy water immediately after use.
