BLANCHON RENOVATION FINISH provides lasting renewal of varnished, oiled, pre-varnished, and pre-oiled floors as well as worn and dull laminate and vinyl flooring (1), without stripping or replacing the surface. Its unique formulation with high build and the addition of a hardener guarantee perfect adhesion as well as high resistance to traffic and chemical attack. Application of RENOVATION FINISH is simple and fast: it is applied directly without adhesion primer. Its simplified surface preparation and single-coat application allow rapid return to service.

(1) Surface wear: traffic patterns, surface scratches, micro-scratches, dull appearance.

Choice of two finishes:

  • Matte (10% gloss)
  • Satin (30% gloss)

How to apply

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Preparation depends on the nature of the floor to be renovated.

Red or tan abrasive pads can be used to perform dulling and cleaning in a single step.

On varnished floors (site or factory applied):

Clean and degrease the surface with BLANCHON SUPERPOWERFUL CLEANER or alcohol. Sand with 150-grit abrasive and dust thoroughly. The surface must be clean and dry before applying RENOVATION FINISH.

On oiled floors (site or factory applied), laminate and vinyl flooring:

Clean and degrease with BLANCHON SUPERPOWERFUL CLEANER or alcohol. Dull the surface without altering the appearance to create an anchor profile and dust thoroughly. The surface must be clean and dry before applying RENOVATION FINISH.

  • Perform an adhesion test beforehand.
  • Do not apply on waxed floors, linseed oil-treated floors, or linoleum flooring. For more information, consult our technical service.

IMPORTANT:

An old varnished floor showing wear to bare wood must be completely sanded to bare wood.

MIXING:

  • Shake the FINISH well then mix: 0.25L HARDENER (Comp. B) to 2.5L FINISH (Comp. A); 1 part HARDENER to 10 parts FINISH (by volume).
  • Mix thoroughly immediately after adding the hardener for 2 to 3 min. The finish is ready to use and usable for a maximum of 1h30.
  • No dilution is necessary under normal conditions.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Do not varnish a floor at a temperature below 12°C and relative humidity above 85%; do not apply on wood with moisture content above 11%. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
  • Apply with a 10mm roller or synthetic bristle brush (for edges or small areas), in 1 even, well-loaded coat (125 sq ft / L).
  • On oiled floors, after the first coat of RENOVATION FINISH has dried, if the appearance is not uniform, apply a second coat of RENOVATION FINISH. Perform a light surface sanding beforehand with 180-grit abrasive followed by thorough dusting. Do not exceed 48 hours between coats.

TOOL CLEANING:

  • Immediately after use, with water.
  • Wring out equipment thoroughly after application; wipe it well.
  • Rinse tools with very little water in a container; allow this water to evaporate.
  • The dry residue can then be disposed of normally in the trash.
  • Close the container tightly after use.
  • Do not discharge residues into drains.
  • Dispose of empty container in the trash.

DRYING, CURING AND RETURN TO SERVICE:

  • Dust-free drying: 30 – 45 minutes.
  • Sandable/recoatable drying: 3 hours under normal conditions.
  • Do not exceed 48 hours between 2 coats.
  • Light traffic: approximately 24 hours, under normal conditions.
  • Final hardness: 5 to 7 days. Take some precautions during the first few days: Do not cover (protective tarps), do not place rugs on the varnished floor. Do not move heavy furniture. Dust with a vacuum or broom (do not use impregnated cloths).
  • Thereafter: place appropriate protectors (felt) under table and chair legs. If necessary, a quality mat placed at the room entrance will trap dust and grit. Do not allow water or other liquids to pool on your varnished floor (properly isolate flower pots).

STORAGE:

  • Component A (FINISH): store away from freezing (be careful with vehicle storage).
  • Component B (HARDENER): not affected by freezing.
  • Reseal both components carefully after use.
  • IMPORTANT: it is recommended to wipe the neck of the Hardener bottle so that the product does not glue the cap shut.

MAINTENANCE:

  • RENOVATION FINISH makes maintenance of all floors easier.
  • IMPORTANT: wait 10 days for the first cleaning, so that RENOVATION FINISH dries completely throughout.
  • ROUTINE MAINTENANCE: frequent vacuuming (or sweeping), combined regularly with a damp mop. Use BLANCHON LAGOON and LISABRIL cleaners.
  • AVOID: floor machine, string mop, silicone polishes, ammonia-based products or abrasive detergents, etc., that is, all equipment and products likely to create slipperiness and shine.
