Old Masters oil-based exterior marine varnish
Old Masters oil-based marine varnish is a topcoat specifically designed to deliver a high-durability product, a flexible finish, and superior resistance to weather and water. The product is formulated to absorb UV rays and provide enhanced sun protection. Finish available: Satin, Semi-Gloss, Gloss.
Use:
Marine varnish is recommended for vertical exterior surfaces such as wood, fiberglass, and painted surfaces. It can be used on new wood surfaces or over an existing coat. It can also be applied over a previously stained surface.
Ideal for decorative elements, railings, doors, wood details on boats (not submerged in water), and other wood surfaces requiring enhanced water protection. Can be used indoors on surfaces such as windows, door trim, and other surfaces requiring better protection against UV rays.
DO NOT USE on a deck or steps, pergolas, or log homes.
Surface preparation:
Surfaces must be dry and clean, and free of contaminants such as grease or oils.
How to apply:
- Apply the product with a natural bristle brush or a varnish applicator pad.
- Apply an even coat. Quickly brush back over the varnish during application without applying pressure to achieve a smoother finish.
- Marine varnish takes about 4–6 h to dry to the touch. Allow 8–16 h to dry before the second coat.
- Lightly sand between coats with 320- or 400-grit sandpaper.
- For exterior or marine surfaces, 3 coats are recommended.
