How to apply
Preparation
IMPORTANT: This step is essential to achieve a good result.
The surface must be clean, dust-free, and free of any wax or varnish residue.
Allow the product to acclimate to room temperature before application.
The temperature must be above 15°C. The wood must be dry (wood moisture content below 12%).
For hardwood, the surface must be sanded with an electric sander in the direction of the wood grain using 100- to 120-grit paper before application. Softer woods, such as pine, absorb more than hardwoods, so we recommend using #150 paper for sanding.
Remove dust thoroughly. If the technique of evenly wetting the floor with water is used, wait long enough for the wood to dry before applying the oil.
How to apply
It is recommended to test the colour on a small area of your project before proceeding with full application. Make sure the result meets your expectations before continuing.
Stir the product well with a stick to thoroughly mix the pigment into the oil.
By hand:
- Apply using a lint-free cloth, an applicator pad, a microfiber applicator, or a lambswool pad. Apply a thin coat, making sure to spread the oil well and avoid buildup.
- After a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes, using a bleached cotton cloth, wipe in the direction of the wood grain, rubbing the oil in to help it penetrate and remove any excess.
- Optional: To buff the surface after 60 minutes, polish with a 5″ orbital sander fitted with a polishing pad.
With an electric polisher:
- Apply a thin coat using an applicator pad, a microfiber applicator, or a lambswool pad. Make sure to spread the oil well and avoid buildup.
- After application, use a rotary polisher fitted with a green pad. Brush the surface to help the oil penetrate and ensure an even finish.
- Optional: To buff the surface after 60 minutes, polish with the polisher fitted with a white pad.
Tips
During heat waves and extremely dry periods, you can add 10% to 15% Svalos 222 thinner to Livos orange oil solvent.
NEVER LET THE OIL DRY ON THE SURFACE WITHOUT WIPING OR POLISHING.
Maintenance
After 14 days, you may use TRENA cleaner only.
Occasionally, Glanos wax cleaner will restore protection to the surface.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
To prevent spontaneous combustion, oil-soaked cloths, polishing pads, and applicators must be kept away from air in a tightly sealed metal container or immersed in water, then disposed of.
