Description
Hybrid Water-based Floor Varnish
Description
This hybrid water-based varnish with Oxylink technology delivers superior resistance with a very short cure time of only 7 days. It enhances the beauty of wood and provides the amber look of an oil-based varnish, without yellowing over time. Its colour and clarity make it ideal for exotic woods. It highlights the warm tones of stains applied to wood. Ideal for high residential or commercial traffic. The product is low-VOC.

How to apply
Recommended applicators:
Varnish applicator, 10 mm lint-free roller and high-quality polyester/nylon brush; can be sprayed.
(Wash tools with water after use)
Application conditions
-Temperature between 21 and 25°C with 45% relative humidity
Applies over most oil- and water-based varnishes and stains.
NEW OR REFINISHED FLOOR:
Apply 3 to 4 coats of varnish.
1. Sand in the direction of the wood grain, smooth the surface using 120-grit sandpaper (DO NOT use steel wool), and remove dust using a vacuum and dry towels.
2. Test beforehand on a section by reproducing the actual application conditions and methods to verify adhesion, compatibility, and colour.
3. Stir the varnish with a clean stick to ensure uniformity, then mix vigorously for at least 45 seconds. (Let stand for at least 10 minutes to allow bubbles to dissipate.)
4. Pour a 4″ (10 cm) wide line of varnish on the floor, along the wall and in the direction of the boards. Using the applicator, load and spread the varnish in the direction of the boards using a “snowplow” angle to pull excess varnish back toward you. Overlap the varnished section by 4″ (10 cm).
To prevent application marks, DO NOT apply pressure on the applicator and smooth out marks and lines as you go. DO NOT apply a coat that is too thin.
5. Allow 4 to 5 hours of drying time between coats (may vary depending on ambient conditions). Sand between coats using 180-grit sandpaper. It is not necessary to sand before the last coat if the time between the last two applications does not exceed 5 hours.
ALREADY VARNISHED FLOOR (RESTORATION)
Apply 1 to 2 coats of varnish
1. Clean thoroughly with Passeport Elite Surface Preparation to remove built-up dirt and leave the surface free of any greasy residue.
2. Dull the surface evenly, following the direction of the wood grain, with 120-grit sandpaper (DO NOT use steel wool). No sheen should remain on the wood surface. Remove dust using a vacuum and damp towels. NOTE: More aggressive sanding is required for factory prefinished floors.
3. Test beforehand on a section by reproducing the actual application conditions and methods to verify adhesion, compatibility, and colour. In case of incompatibility, return the wood to bare.
4. Stir the varnish with a clean stick to ensure uniformity, then mix vigorously for at least 45 seconds. Let stand for at least 10 minutes.
6. Allow 4 to 5 hours of drying time before a second coat (may vary depending on ambient conditions). It is not necessary to sand before the second coat if the drying time does not exceed 5 hours.
MAINTENANCE
