LOW VOC INDUSTRIAL ANTI-RUST MAINTENANCE COATING (<340 g/L). This anti-rust coating protects metal and delays the appearance of rust and corrosion. Offers excellent sag resistance, excellent drying time, and can be applied directly to metal (DTM). This anti-rust paint is ideal for tractors and agricultural machinery, sheet metal, steel tanks, industrial equipment, and metal structures. When catalyzed, provides better abrasion resistance, retains its gloss longer, better withstands weather conditions, and maximizes anti-rust protection.
Application methods:
For optimal results, spray application is recommended for this anti-rust coating.
Use brush/roller only on very small surfaces (screw heads, small scratches, etc.) by adding 10% Slow Solvent ST653. Stir thoroughly before use.
Spray Gun: Mandatory dilution of 10 to 15% with Pépin thinner ST661 or ST653. MétalForce paint must be used with Pépin urethane catalyst at a ratio of 10% by volume and 10% by volume of thinner ST661 or ST653. Brush application (FOR SMALL TOUCH-UPS ONLY): 5 to 10% ST653. All applications must be done at air, surface, and product temperatures between 10 and 32°C. Catalyze only the amount of paint needed. Product viscosity: 50 – 55 KU.

Aluminum 456-811 is the only color in the collection that is suitable for application on sheet metal roofs.
Alkyd coating with metallic pigments specifically designed and formulated for aesthetic applications on metal roofs. It offers a high gloss level and good gloss and color retention. Product resistance can be improved by catalyzing at 8-1 with 4000-23. To improve adhesion on galvanized steel or to increase corrosion resistance, use a Synguard EPS465XX or Métalforce 3406-134X primer.

Surface preparation
Metal must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. If rust or peeling paint is present, scrape and sand using metal sandpaper (or a grinder).
On new, refurbished metals or to neutralize rust traces, apply Pépin metal conditioner (4000-667).
If the metal has been cleaned with sandblasting, apply a coat of Métal Force primer (346-144X).
If the surface is aluminum, an industrial aluminum primer will be necessary.
Dilute the Pépin anti-rust coating
For successful application and to increase product performance, it is necessary to dilute the Pépin anti-rust paint.
- Add slow solvent ST653 or ST661 at a ratio of 10%. (Ex: 100 ml of solvent per 1 L of paint).
- To prevent paint wrinkling, maximize the resistance of the Pépin anti-rust coating, and increase the durability of its finish, add urethane catalyst 4000-23 to the paint. Maintain a ratio of maximum 10% solvent and 10% catalyst. (Ex: For 1 L of paint, maximum 100 ml of solvent and 100 ml of catalyst.)
- Mix the dilution using a wooden stick.
- The pot life of the mixture is 4h once the catalyst is added to the paint. In other words, you have 4h to apply the product.
Apply the Pépin anti-rust coating by spraying
- If application of a primer coat (346-144X) is necessary, start with its application. Allow to dry for 30 min.
- Apply the first coat of Pépin anti-rust paint. The coat thickness (film) must be 2.5 to 3.5 mm (when dry).
- Allow the first coat to dry for 15 to 45 min. Then apply a 2nd coat, always maintaining a thickness of 2.5 to 3.5 mm.
- Apply at temperatures between 15 and 32 degrees Celsius (air and surface temperature).
- The Pépin anti-rust coating will be touch dry after 45 min. It will be dry in depth – and ready to use – after 24 to 48 h. Adding catalyst 4000-23 accelerates the deep drying time.
Note: MetalForce must be applied by brush/roller only for very small touch-ups. (Ex: Screw heads, small scratches, etc.). Otherwise, the paint dries very quickly and it is difficult to apply it uniformly and effectively.
