Description:
This museum-quality wax is made in Canada from a traditional recipe passed down through several generations. Homestead House Black Furniture Wax is made from a blend of beeswax, a small amount of Carnauba wax, and tinted a rich black. It is ideal for protecting Milk Paint or Fusion Mineral Paint while providing a beautiful antique, lustrous finish. It seals and protects paint, furniture and wood, as well as your small and large projects. It is also ideal for protecting decorative plasters such as NaturaChaux. It can be used in combination with White Wax, Antiquing Wax, and Espresso Furniture Wax.
Preparation:
The surface must be clean. If necessary, clean with TSP phosphate-free organic degreaser or Black Soap. On a waxed finish, remove wax using Citrus Solvent and #00 steel wool. On bare wood, it is preferable to apply one or two coats of linseed or hemp oil as a sealer before applying the wax.
How to apply:
Apply using a wax brush or a clean, lint-free bleached cotton cloth. Allow to dry 5 to 10 minutes and wipe off excess. Once the wax is completely dry (approximately 1 1/2 hours), buff with a bleached cotton cloth or buffing brush for a better lustre. Two coats may be required to achieve a beautiful lustre.
Maintenance:
Apply a thin coat of Homestead House Black Furniture Wax once a year or as needed.
CAUTION – The finish reaches maximum hardness after 30 days.
