Description:
WoodForce Clear is a clear protector that actively shields wood against weather, water, moisture, and UV rays (only when mixed with WoodForce Intermix). It makes wood hydrophobic, meaning it prevents water from penetrating and deteriorating the wood. WoodForce Clear is designed to allow wood to age and gray naturally like Wood Sealer, while protecting it from blackening and rot.
Clear (colorless) WoodForce must be mixed with a WoodForce Intermix color if complete graying of the wood by UV rays is not desired.
WoodForce Clear is used as a topcoat for the range of finishes possible with WoodForce Accel and WoodForce Intermix.
- Protects wood while allowing it to
weather naturally - Creates a complete range of weathered
finishes, colors, and
effects - Eco-friendly, low toxicity
- VOC-SCAQMD compliant
- Red List/CARB compliant
- Penetrates the substrate
- Hydrophobic (repels water) while allowing the wood to breathe
- Breathable
- Soap and water cleanup
- Exceptionally easy to maintain
Multiple finish types possible with WoodForce
WoodForce allows you to achieve a wide variety of different finishes.
Transparent: 1st coat Clear + 2nd coat Clear
The transparent finish is achieved by applying 2 coats of WoodForce Clear. This finish will allow the wood to age gently until a light gray is achieved. This is the finish closest to a natural wood appearance.
Accelerated: 1st coat Accel + 2nd Clear + Clear *optional 3rd coat*
The <<accelerated>> finish provides a more pronounced weathered appearance than the transparent finish.
Intermix System <<barn board>>: 1st coat Intermix + 2nd Clear
This finish recreates the look of traditional barn boards.
You can mix Intermix colors of your choice to customize your color.
Vintage color system: 1st coat Accel + 2nd Intermix + 3rd Clear
Customize the appearance of your exterior wood even further. You can also apply the Intermix coat by applying it only to certain areas with a sponge, for example.
Applying WoodForce
Wood must be clean, dry and sanded. Sand the wood with an orbital sander and 80-grit sandpaper.
WoodForce can be applied with a natural bristle brush or by spraying. Always apply to wood saturation.
Application methodology varies depending on desired finish.
Transparent (Clear+Clear):
For the transparent natural wood effect, simply apply 2 coats of Clear.
The 1st coat of Clear should be generous (between 6-8 mils thick).
After the 1st coat, allow to dry for approximately 2h. Drying time varies depending on weather conditions.
Apply the 2nd coat at 4-6 mils thick.
Accelerated (Accel+Clear+Clear *optional 3rd coat*):
Apply a generous 1st coat of Accel (6-8 mils). Allow to dry for 2h.
Then apply Clear at 4-6 mils thick.
If you decide to apply a 3rd coat, allow 2h between the 2nd and 3rd coat.
Intermix System <<barn board>>(Intermix+Clear):
Start by creating – if needed – the Intermix color blend.
Once the blend is complete, it is recommended to test on an inconspicuous area of your wood.
Apply the first coat of Intermix at 6 to 8 mils thickness. Allow to dry approximately 2h.
Then apply the Clear coat (4-6 mils). If you desire a more intense shade, you can add the Intermix blend to WoodForce Clear. However, do not exceed a maximum of 50% Intermix in the clear coat.
Vintage color system (Accel+Intermix+Clear):
Start with a first coat of Accel applied at 6-8 mils.
After 2h, create the Intermix blend and then apply it to the wood at 4-6 mils thickness initially.
Note: To achieve a vintage effect on the wood, you can vary the application method for the Intermix coat (2nd coat) only. Once the 2nd coat is applied to the surface, you can work it with a brush, sponge or even roller.
Also, you can dilute the 2nd coat with WoodForce Clear to accelerate the weathered wood effect.
After approximately 2h of drying – depending on application conditions – apply a coat of Clear to protect the finish (4-6 mils).
Application conditions for applying WoodForce.
Ideal temperature is 21 degrees during product application, and relative humidity should be approximately 50%.
Wood must be dry, otherwise it could hinder WoodForce penetration.
Do not apply WoodForce if it is raining or rain is imminent. In case of rain, it is preferable to let the wood dry for 24h before proceeding with application.
Avoid applying WoodForce on hot wood or in direct sunlight.
