Clear Protective Finish for Interior Wood Surfaces
Flame Control No. 141 Fire-Retardant Polyurethane Varnish is a clear, transparent alkyd finish specifically designed for interior use on gymnasium floors and other wood floor surfaces. It offers maximum resistance to abrasion, friction, and washing. Varnish No. 141 is also suitable for other interior surfaces such as paneling, doors, moldings, wainscoting, stairs, and concrete floors.

How to apply
Preparation
Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free of wax, grease, dirt, and sanding dust.
Glossy surfaces must be sanded with sandpaper or steel wool.
For best appearance, new and uncoated surfaces should be sealed with a thinned coat of No.141 High Gloss (1 pint of mineral spirits per gallon of No.141 High Gloss).
This is particularly important if you want to apply the varnish to porous wood (e.g., masonite, OSB, oak, etc.) and wish to achieve a low or semi-gloss final appearance.
All sanding, nail hole filling, etc., must be completed before applying No.141 High Gloss.
How to apply
Flame Control No. 141 can be applied by brush, roller, or spray. If a sealer has been applied, allow the surface to dry completely before applying No. 141.
Stir the product well before use, then apply a uniform coat at a coverage rate of approximately 400 sq ft/US gallon (9.8 m2/L). Coverage will vary depending on surface porosity.
Allow to dry overnight or until hard.
Lightly sand, remove surface dust, then apply a second coat at the same coverage rate.
Note: Two coats are required to meet the established Class “B” fire-retardant rating.
