Description:
FireStop 99 provides flame resistance while preserving the beauty of your wood.
Firestop 99 is a clear wood coating, similar to a varnish, but in the presence of flames, the film swells for 30 minutes to provide a barrier that slows the spread of fire, allowing time for evacuation.
For effective fire-retardant properties, apply two coats with 4 hours of drying time between them. This is an eco-friendly, low-VOC product. Tools can be cleaned with soap and water as the product is water-based.
Ideal for vertical wood surfaces or ceilings: joists, plywood, laminated wood, and any surface where fire protection is recommended or required. Suitable for commercial buildings with wood structures, residences, restaurants, lofts, homes, and commercial wood exits.
Firestop 99 is designed for interior use.
It can be used outdoors as long as it is not exposed to rain or high humidity. Leaching (exposure to water and high humidity) reduces the fire protection of the surfaces.
Sansin Firestop 99 provides a translucent matte finish with a low sheen once dry
Flame spread index of < 20 and a smoke-developed index of 200.
Wood can be stained the desired color first and then varnished with Firestop 99.
Note: The fire retardants in this coating are slightly whitish. On light wood, the whitish effect is barely noticeable. However, on darker or textured woods (e.g., barn wood), heavy application can leave whitish streaks in the wood grain where the coating is thicker. It is better to apply several thin coats rather than two thick ones.
