Walnut Stain
Crystal walnut stain is made from Cassel extract. Of vegetable origin, Cassel extract has replaced true walnut stain due to the rarity and high cost of the latter. Cassel extract perfectly imitates walnut stain, which is why cabinetmakers, restorers and antique furniture reproducers use it to imitate aged finishes. Walnut stain is often used to give new wood an aged appearance before applying milk paint (to let it show through when distressing the finish). It can produce walnut tones from pale to dark depending on the number of coats applied or the amount of pigment diluted, while allowing the wood grain to show through.
Crystal walnut stain is a concentrated tint that dissolves in warm or hot water. Dilution is adjusted according to the shade you want. It achieves the final tone in a single application with no risk of overlap marks thanks to its penetrating and diffusing power. Walnut stain gives off no odor and is very pleasant to use.
Use:
For interior or exterior use on all types of wood in restoration or on new wood: furniture, beams, floors, woodwork, etc. It can be waxed, oiled, varnished or lacquered. For exterior use, walnut stain must receive a protective coating such as varnish. Apply generously in the direction of the wood grain with a lint-free cloth or cotton pad; it is important to wipe off excess quickly with a clean cloth or pad. Sand lightly before applying the finish coat. A minimum drying time of two hours is required before applying another coat.
Can produce tones from light walnut to dark walnut: 30 g/liter of warm water for light walnut, 60 g/liter of warm water for medium walnut and 90 g/liter of warm water for dark walnut.
Application:
Apply generously in the direction of the wood grain with a lint-free cloth or cotton pad. It is important to wipe off excess product quickly. Sand lightly before applying the finish coat. A minimum drying time of two hours is required before applying another coat.
