The eco-friendly formula made from plant oils and natural waxes in Osmo Decorative Wax Finish penetrates deep into the wood to protect it from within. While keeping the surface microporous (breathable), it will not crack or peel, and it resists stains and splashes. If needed, you can repair it without sanding!
Osmo Decorative Wax Finish applies easily, letting you enhance furniture, refresh trim, or create a unique decorative effect—while staying easy to maintain and exceptionally durable.
With 25 colors you can mix together, you have full control over intensity and can get creative: one coat for a transparent wash, two coats for a rich, deeper shade. Or even two different colors layered one over the other!

How to apply
How to apply
The colors of Osmo Decorative Wax Finish can be mixed together to create new shades. Mix only a small amount and adjust the percentages to achieve a lighter or darker shade. Write down your formulas so you can reproduce them later.
Mixes must be made exclusively between Decorative Wax Finishes, not with other Osmo products.
If the product has thickened due to freezing, it will return to a normal consistency at room temperature within 24–36 hours.
Furniture use
Stir the finish well before use.
- Using an Osmo natural-bristle brush or a non-abrasive white pad, apply Decorative Wax Finish in a thin, even coat in the direction of the grain. Brush out to remove overlap lines or stop marks. Mistakes can be corrected up to 30 minutes after the first application.
- For a transparent color – 15–20 minutes after application, wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth or a white pad in the direction of the wood grain to remove excess finish.
- For an intense color – let dry (step 4), then repeat the process after the first coat has dried (apply a maximum of 2 coats). We recommend using an Osmo microfiber pad for the second coat.
- Drying time: approx. 12–24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C / 50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may extend drying time. Ensure the room is well ventilated.
- Extra protection: Osmo TopOil or Osmo Polyx®-Oil can be applied as a topcoat for improved durability.
Curing time: Like all finishes, Osmo Decorative Wax Finish requires curing time. We recommend allowing 2–3 weeks for the surface to fully cure.
Floor use
**Important – Only one coat of tinted Decorative Wax Finish may be applied to bare wood floors, because the second coat must be a clear coat of Polyx®-Oil.
Shake the finish well before use.
- Spread Osmo Decorative Wax Finish on the floor using an Osmo double blade trowel, then, using a single-disc floor machine and a non-abrasive white pad, buff the product into a thin, even coat over the entire surface.
- Mistakes can be corrected up to 30 minutes after the first application.
- Drying time: approx. 12–24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C / 50% relative humidity).
- Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may extend drying time. Ensure the room is well ventilated.
- Mandatory protection: To protect the color pigments on the floor, 1–2 coats of Osmo Polyx®-Oil are required as a topcoat.
Curing time: Like all finishes, Osmo Decorative Wax Finish requires curing time. We recommend allowing 2–3 weeks for the surface to fully cure.
