Description
Stain Protection for Meoded Lime Wash Paint
Product description
Description:
A wall covered with Lime Wash paint provides a room with a truly distinctive character.
Misfortune strikes when water splashes your beautiful wall or when all your guests’ hands lean on it, unprotected.
This is why it is important that you take the time to apply the Lime Wash Paint Sealer to your wall to preserve its beauty and natural appearance.
This completely transparent sealer offers a matte finish that will not change the color or effect of your limewash wall. It will penetrate it without leaving a surface film. It will form a water-repellent barrier that will prevent water splashes, grease, and dirt from being absorbed, which would otherwise cause stains. It is therefore essential to use it on a bathroom wall, an entryway wall, or a hallway wall.
The low-odor, solvent-based product is also designed to resist mold and efflorescence (whitish deposits).
You can easily apply it in two coats with a varnish applicator. This will ensure that the porosity of the lime is fully impregnated and protected for a long time.

How to apply
How to Apply
- Apply the sealer generously using a natural bristle brush, sponge, paint roller, sprayer, or varnish pad. In our opinion, the best way is to use the 10-inch applicator pad (Finitec).
- Ensure the product is evenly distributed over the surface, allowing the sealer to penetrate. Apply it everywhere, then go over it again to remove any excess.
- If too much is applied, puddles and drips may form, so be sure to wipe off any excess product to avoid marks.
- Allow to dry for 1-2 hours, then apply a second coat. The Lime Wash paint sealer dries completely in 24 hours.
Important Notes:
You must apply the sealer when the temperature is between 10 and 32 °C.
If the sealant comes into contact with an adjacent surface, it must be wiped off immediately.
Coverage varies depending on the porosity and absorption rate of the surface. Temperature and application method also
affect coverage.
If residues appear, reapply a small amount of Lime Wash Protective Sealer and polish the surface with a clean cloth.
Q&A
Questions and Answers
Q1: I’d like to do my kitchen backsplash in Lime Wash—will the sealer protect it well?
A1: Yes and no. If the sealer is applied properly, with two coats, it will protect the Lime Wash backsplash from food splashes for a while. But since splashes will be frequent, Lime Wash—even protected—won’t be the most durable finish for this use. We recommend using it instead on less high-traffic surfaces with a more decorative function.
Q2: I sealed my limewash paint wall and in the end, I don’t like the result—can I apply Lime Wash paint directly over it?
A2: Not directly. You’ll need to redo all the steps since the wall has been sealed. Lime Wash needs a porous surface to produce its effect.
Q3: If I’ve started spreading my sealer, can I stop halfway across the wall and continue another day?
A3: No. We recommend protecting the entire wall in one go to prevent lap marks from appearing.
Q4: Can I apply any sealer to protect my Lime Wash wall?
A4: We don’t recommend it. After multiple tests with various protectors and varnishes on Lime Wash limewash paint, it turns out the sealer offered on this page is the one that reliably gives the best result. Several protectors tested proved incompatible.
Q5: I like the Lime Wash wall I made as-is. Do I absolutely have to apply the protective sealer over it?
A5: No, this step is optional, but strongly recommended to protect your limewash wall from unexpected dirt or splashes. The Lime Wash finish is not washable. If you scrub one spot to clean it, a faded mark will form. Since it’s difficult to do a local touch-up with limewash paint, you’ll need to redo the entire wall so it doesn’t show.
