General description:
COVER STAIN® is a fast-drying, oil-based primer-sealer, stain killer, and bonding primer. It features high coverage performance and can be used on all interior and exterior surfaces. It combines the convenience of fast drying with outstanding adhesion. Additionally, it offers great stain-blocking power. This all-purpose, high-hide primer-sealer provides excellent flexibility and penetration, making it ideal for full-surface exterior applications. It can be used over or under any oil-based or latex architectural paint. Ideal for residential or commercial maintenance, new construction, and renovations. It can also be used to transition from an old oil-based paint to a new coat of latex paint.
Recommended use:
COVER-STAIN® is recommended for application on the following substrates damaged by fire, smoke, or water:
- Interior: New or previously painted drywall, plaster and dry cement-based coatings, wood (including pine, fir, cedar, redwood, plywood), metal (including aluminum, iron, steel, and copper), vinyl, PVC, masonry (including stucco, concrete blocks, poured concrete, and brick).
- Exterior: New or previously painted wood (including pine, fir, cedar, redwood, and pressure-treated wood), hardboard, metal (including aluminum, iron, steel, and copper), vinyl, and PVC.

How to apply:
All surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, dust, or other contaminants that could affect the adhesion or appearance of this primer.
Clean the surface by pressure washing or by washing it with a strong detergent, then rinse with clean water. Remove heavy grease and oil-based contaminants with Krud Kutter. To reduce gloss, simply sand lightly and clean the dust produced by sanding. Mold must be removed using a bleach solution and then rinsing with clean water. Cover Stain oil-based primer is ready to use. It can be applied with a nylon or polyester brush, a 10 mm synthetic fiber nap roller, or an airless sprayer with a 0.015 to 0.017″ tip at a relative pressure of 1,500 to 2,000 PSI. Air and surface temperatures must be at least 4°C and at most 27°C during application as well as during drying.
Precautions:
Do not paint on very hot surfaces or those exposed to direct sunlight. Do not apply less than four hours before rain or heavy dew and ensure there will be at least 24 hours without rain or high humidity after product application. Ideally, this product should not be used alone and without a finish in bathrooms, rooms containing a pool, basements, or places where there is prolonged contact with water. Surfaces must be clean, dry, in good condition, and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mold, wallpaper, adhesive material, or any contaminant that may reduce adhesion properties. If in doubt, always wash the surface with an ammonia cleaning solution or an appropriate solvent (do not use TSP as a cleaner). Remove peeling and/or unstable coatings. Sand the edges of remaining paint film until smooth. Lightly sand exposed exterior wood using 80-100 grit sandpaper to remove loose or weathered fibers and mill glaze. When priming over stained areas, first try to remove as much of the stain as possible by washing, sanding, scraping, etc. Remove exterior mold with a household mold cleaner. These products are not designed for application on floors, decks, or for prolonged contact with water.
