GripCoat water-based ultra-adherent primer bonds to a wide variety of surfaces that typically present difficult adhesion problems.
The following surfaces are no longer problematic when this primer is applied: PVC, other plastics, glass, fiberglass, high-gloss paints, galvanized metal, tile, or varnished surfaces. This product is suitable for interior or exterior exposure. It can be topcoated with various finishes (latex, alkyd, urethane, or water-based epoxy). It is not the highest-hiding primer as it contains more resin than pigment. It remains relatively flexible, making it also very suitable for exterior use.
Recommended use:
Plaster, drywall, siding, concrete, masonry blocks, wood, previously painted surfaces. Can be applied to surfaces made of: PVC, other plastics, glass, fiberglass, high-gloss paint bases, galvanized metal, or varnished wood surfaces. Also bonds very well to difficult-to-paint metals such as aluminum and copper.
How to apply:
All surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, dust, or other contaminants that could affect the adhesion or appearance of this primer.
Clean the surface by pressure washing or by washing with a strong detergent, then rinse with clean water. Remove heavy grease and oil-based contaminants with a solvent such as xylol or lacquer thinner. Reduce gloss by sanding, and clean up the dust produced by sanding. Mold and mildew spores must be removed using a bleach solution and then rinsing with clean water.
GripCoat water-based ultra-adherent primer is ready to use as packaged, but it can be thinned slightly with water if necessary. GripCoat ultra-adherent primer can be applied with a nylon or polyester brush, a 10 mm synthetic fiber roller, or an airless sprayer with a 0.017 to 0.019 tip. Air and surface temperatures must be at least 10°C during application and drying.
Precautions:
Do not paint on very hot surfaces or those exposed to direct sunlight. Do not apply less than four hours before rain or heavy dew, and ensure there will be at least 24 hours without rain or high humidity after product application. Ideally, this product should not be used in bathrooms, pool rooms, basements, or areas in continuous contact with water.
Do not add solvents, oils, or oil-based colorants, and do not mix with other types of paint. Do not apply when air or surface temperature is below 10°C, or when drying conditions are unsatisfactory. Do not allow to freeze. Use adequate ventilation.
